How to Write Amazing Content that Humans and Google Will LOVE

October 27, 2020

Companies that regularly post high-quality content to their blog or website tend to see an increase in leads, sales, and organic traffic. Google can also pick up the blog posts and rank them high in the search results for profitable keywords.

This, in turn, can drive more traffic to the website. Once the people are on the site, the amazing content persuades them to perform an action, such as leaving their contact info, calling for more information, or liking them on their social media accounts.

Google is continually refining their algorithms, which are smart enough to determine if a piece of content provides value to the website visitor or if it’s just low-quality junk. In this blog post, we’re going to show you five methods that you can use to create high-quality content for your website that both human beings and Google will love.

Keyword Research

Before you begin your amazing blog post, you’ll need to do a little bit of keyword research. There are many free tools out there, including Google’s Keyword Planner, that will give you valuable information regarding which keywords drive the most traffic.

Be sure to keep a spreadsheet list and use each keyword at least once in your content. Keep in mind that if you continually repeat the same keyword over and over again, Google could penalize your content. It’s called “keyword spam,” and they consider it to ruin the quality of content.

Grammar

If your website has poor grammar and lots of misspelled words, it comes off as very amateurish and unprofessional. Some people might even think that it’s untrustworthy. While Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and other word processing software can automatically check the spelling, they can’t check the grammar and overall readability of a piece of content.

This is why many content creators will use Grammarly and Hemmingway Editor to help make their writing clearer and more concise. Grammarly will check your content for grammatical errors while Hemingway looks at how easy your content is to read. While both tools are free, the paid versions go further in-depth and can really help make a piece of content shine.

High-Quality Content

High-quality content is what gets Google to rank websites high in the organic search results and can increase lead generation and conversions. Before you begin writing, you should take a look at all the other content that your competitors have written.

What can you do better?

How can you improve upon it?

For example, if you own a weight loss company and search for “weight loss advice,” you might find that many of the articles are nothing but lists of tips. Each tip has one or two sentences. To make your content unique and different from the rest, you can create a shorter list but go much further into detail. This will provide more value to the reader.

If all of the websites on the first page of a Google search for your desired keyword have lists of 10-20 examples, you can try to create a mega post that has a list of 100 examples. Yes, this will take much more time and effort, but the end result will be 100x better than anything that’s currently ranking on page one of a Google search.

Creating high-quality content is all about providing value to whoever is reading it. The more detail and value that you add to the article that you’re writing, the better it can rank and convert.

Formatting

If you’re correctly formatting your blog posts, people will have a much easier time reading them. You can do so by keeping your paragraphs relatively short and using appropriate sub headers as well.

For example, look at this section. We have bolded the word “Formatting” and increased the size to a 16pt font. Each paragraph is around 2-3 sentences of varying lengths. This allows people to read and digest the information quickly.

Optimize Your Content

After you’ve written the perfect article and run it through the aforementioned grammar tools to check for errors and other issues, it’s now time to optimize your content. Make sure that the title of your blog post has the keywords that you’re trying to rank for. This will help Google understand what your content is all about.

You can also include a few external links to authority websites. This is not only good for SEO, but it can help your audience gain a better understanding of the topics that you’re talking about. Make sure that you only link out to reputable websites that are relevant to the topic that you’re talking about.
