Power to the People!  People CMS, that is.

May 11, 2016

Bizango’s Easy Update Tools, People CMS, now make it possible for you to easily edit your site’s meta description text and custom page URLs.   Read here how to take advantage of this amazing SEO tool.

A meta description is the short description, usually 1-2 sentences (the recommendation is no more than 150 characters), just below the page title and URL of the business on a Google search results page.  Meta descriptions are there to entice visitors to click to your site (click-through) from a Google search.  Ultimately, the more descriptive and persuasive the meta description, the more likely people are to click on your business.

Having the ability to easily customize and edit your site’s meta descriptions for each page is a great tool to use in gaining more site visitors from a Google search.  And for our clients that use the newest version of our editing tools, it is now possible to do this!

Here are the steps to edit your site’s meta description text and create custom URLs.

Editing HTML title tags & meta description tags

When you are logged in as the site owner, in the top right corner you’ll find 2 transparent buttons - “Settings” and “Log out”.  Click on the “Settings” button.

Now, you’ll see a window slide open with the following options available on the left of your screen:  SEO, Tracking, Support.   Click on SEO.

There you will see a white box labeled “Search Engine Preview”.  What’s written here is what Google shows people who are searching for you or on your keywords.  You have the ability to edit both the title tag and the meta description.

In the first gray box, you can type in your HTML title tag.

In the next gray box, type in your custom meta description tag.

You also have the ability to type in your meta keywords.  Then click Save.

Editing page URLs

Depending on how your site was built,  if you have the ability to add subpages to your site, you may have the ability to edit the page URL.

When you are logged in as the site owner, in the top right corner you’ll find 2 transparent buttons – “Settings” and “Log out”.  Click on the “Settings” button.

Now, you’ll see a window slide open with the following options available on the left of your screen:  SEO, Tracking, Support.  Click on the SEO.

There you will see a white box labeled “Search Engine Preview”.

Under the white box, you’ll see “URL for this page”.  In the gray box, you have the ability to type in a custom URL specific to that page.  Then click Save.

Beware – if you change the URL of a page, you need to change any links to that page to match the new url.

When you are done editing your site, log out by clicking on the transparent “Log out” button in the top right corner of the site.
